Revolutionary Nanotechnology Based Coating

Edmonton, Alberta company Quantiam Technologies ,has developed a nanotechnology-based coating, which can significantly reduce energy and maintenance costs at plants that produce olefins. The olefin industry produces products such as plastics, antifreeze and lubricants.

Quantiam is ready to build a 35,000-square-foot, $9.2 million manufacturing plant in Edmonton that will provide replacement coatings for production furnaces. The coatings will allow furnaces to work at a 50-degree-lower temperature, thus reducing wear and corrosion. This means that maintenance shutdowns at olefin plants will be required every two years instead of every month, resulting in significant cost savings.
